A fruit native to West Africa, it has been clinically proven to reduce cholesterol, assist weight loss, along with many other health benefits. African Mango is a weight loss phenomenon, which is backed by solid science. Check out some of the ethical clinical studies we have found backing up the health benefits of African Mango Seed Extract.
Published in the journal of “Lipids in Health and Disease.” The study was conducted on 102 people divided between those taking the African Mango and those taking the placebo. According to the study, consuming African Mango seed extract resulted in “Significant improvements in body weight, body fat, and waist circumference. African Mango (Irvingia gabonensis) administered 150 mg twice daily before meals to overweight and/or obese human volunteers favorably impacts body weight and a variety of parameters characteristic of the metabolic syndrome.”

In May 2005 another study was undertaken by the Nutrition, HIV and Health Research Unit from the University of Yaounde in Cameroon. The aim of the study was to test the effect of Irvingia gabonensis seeds on body weight and blood lipids of obese subjects in Cameroon.
Conducted by means of a double blind randomised study involving 40 subjects. 28 received Irvingia gabonensis and 12 received a placebo. The study period was for a total of one month. The subjects taking African Mango seed extract were administered 1.05 grams three times a day for the month.
At the conclusion of the study the mean body weight of the Irvingia gabonensis group was decreased by 5.26 +/- 2.37% and that of the placebo group by 1.32 +/- 0.41%. This is a major disparity.
The obese patients under the Irvingia gabonensis treatment also had a significant decrease of total cholesterol, LDL-cholesterol, triglycerides, and an increase of HDL-cholesterol. On the other hand, the placebo group did not manifest any changes in blood lipid components.

To use the extract properly it is recommended that you take 2 capsules together with a large glass of water, before a main meal. Ensure you are consuming enough fluid every day (between 2 to 3 litres of fluids will be required everyday).
So how does African mango assist weight loss?
- Acts as a fat burner, accelerating metabolism naturally without the use of stimulants and aiding the body to eliminate stored fats.
- Suppresses the appetite through regulating leptin which is a hormone secreted by the brain when the body has had enough to eat. Low leptin levels in the body increase cravings.
- Provides a long lasting fibre source for the body which acts as a bulker, slowing digestion and providing sustained energy whilst creating a sense of satiety for longer.
- Lowers blood glucose levels and reduces plasma lipids
- Decreases low-density lipoprotein (LDL) and increases high-density lipoprotein (HDL), supporting overall healthy cholesterol levels.
